About the Eastern Division
The lodges in KZN originally resorted under the Central Division with its Provincial Grand Lodge office in the Free State, and which was established in 1963. On 5 May 1977, the Eastern Division was consecrated and RW Bro Hamilton was installed as the first Provincial Grand Master. The division has three active lodges these are Lodge Neerlandia and Lodge First United, both meeting at the Masonic Centre in Rossburgh, and Lodge Meerensee situated in Empangeni.
RW Bro Johan van der Merwe is the current Provincial Grand Master. A number of Past Provincial Grand Masters distinguished themselves by becoming Deputy or Assistant Grand Masters, such as RW Bro Alexander, RW Bro Schuitemaker, RW Bro Hinrichs, RW Bro Muhlenbeck and RW Bro Roodt.
